The Peonies seem to be smaller this year, but, none the less, they brighten up the front lawn, where they share a bed with my lavender Iris.
While the Iris are beginning to fade away, the Peonies are now dominating the color scheme. Follow this beauty from bud to blossom and look deep into it's very center.

I need to grow some of these. They are good at taking up space, too, which I could use a little help with. I have a friend who grows about an acre of them for commercial purposes. I'll see if I can get over there for photos this summer.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! Peony's are my favorite! They smell divine. You really have to appreciate them though...they come once a year and stay for such a short time
ReplyDeleteI so love peonies! I remember collecting flowers in the garden as a child and discovering very quickly that no matter how beautiful, the peonies were not to be picked!
ReplyDeleteI can understand you not liking the journal thing. I am not sure how I feel about it write now. I have so far created ugliness... While it has been fun, do I want a book of ugly? I think this book is a process and we won't know until the end what we are going to take out of it and it may be very different from person to person... Stick with it!
The leaf page is actually a different project - I have a book I made which I am filling with non-busy spreads so she can journal over it. They are just pretty backgrounds for her. She has no idea yet though!
oh barb... watching in slow motion that pink bud bursting into bloom has been so nice!
ReplyDeletebeautiful! beautiful!! beautiful!!!
