Wrecked-Week One...

Okay.

Here goes.

I think I may be waaaay out of my comfort zone on this one!

I procrastinated for a week or so before I finally made up my mind to give this Journal Wrecking a shot. There was a time when I thought I wanted to try doing an Altered Book, but when it came right down to the actual alterations, I panicked.

Yeah... Really...

I just couldn't bring myself to write, paste, tear, glue, etc., any page!

So, I want to tell you all, right up front, that this project is really going to be a challenge. I'm scared, but deep down, I think there is a bit of a devil wanting to break free!

I've studied the pages and have already made a small entry on the sticky page. Hey, it's a start!

This really is going to be a lot of fun and when I get a quiet moment, I'm going to visit all the other participants.

Come on.
Be brave.
Be yourself.
Wreck a Journal!

Join us at Jamie's ~ she's the one who got us started!

I plan on doing some serious wrecking this week, so check my journal pages out right here next Friday. I hope to have some really cool photos for you.

Sweeeeeeeet...

The Honey Locust.

So named for the sweet tasting pulp of it's mature pods, which is fodder for grazing animals such as cattle and horses.

Their cream-colored blossoms appear in late spring and are strongly scented, giving good reason to linger along the roadside and indulge in their offering. I had a hard time convincing myself that I should leave my vantage point and head up over the mountain for home!

If ever there was a time to invent a scratch-and-sniff feature on Blogger, this would be it! Their scent is second only to that of a Stargazer Lily.

The wood of the Honey Locust is sturdy and highly resistant to rot, therefore is useful in the making of fence posts and rails.

So... they not only provide good eating for the cattle, they also are helpful in keeping them in the cafeteria! How cool is that?

Flowers, just because...

It was a wonderful surprise.

This simple, but elegant, bouquet.

From my daughter, just because she knew I needed them!

Perfect boost for my spirits and perfect for Mary T's Ruby Tuesday.

Precious Moments of Quiet...

Appointments to keep.

Obligations to meet.

Life has a habit of rearranging a person's living and finding quiet moments isn't easy. Today, I have the privilege of just being:

Being alone.

Being quiet.

Being me.

I've missed being a part of the blog-sphere for the past couple of weeks. It seems like it's been forever since I've checked in on all my favorite bloggers. To those of you who have left comments or sent e-mails... I apologize for not responding.

So... I'm sending you a big bouquet of my Lilacs just so you know that I appreciate every comment and concern. I only wish I could send along their heavenly scent too!

Thank-You! Thank-You! Thank-You! From the bottom of my heart!

Legend of the Dogwood...

In Jesus' time, the Dogwood grew
To a stately size and a lovely hue.

'Twas strong and firm, it's branches interwoven
For the cross of Christ, it's timbers were chosen.

Seeing the distress at this use of it's wood
Christ made a promise which still holds good:

"Never again shall the Dogwood grow
Large enough to be used so.

Slender and twisted, it shall be
With blossoms like the cross, for all to see.

As blood stains the petals marked in brown
The blossom's center wears a thorny crown.

All who see it will remember Me
Crucified on a cross from the Dogwood tree.

Cherished and protected, this tree shall be
A reminder to all of My agony."

~Author unknown

Just a legend...

Nowhere in the Bible does it state the type of wood that was used to construct the cross on which Christ was crucified. Regardless, this is a wonderful poem and the Dogwood tree remains cherished and protected to this day.

Wonder.

Believe.
